Highway 666: The Cursed Devil’s Highway
Highway 666 in the US, now renamed to U.S. Route 491, is reportedly a hotbed of paranormal activity.
History of Highway 666
Route 666 came into being in 1926 when the local roads were upgraded into a US highway. The route runs north to south through New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. Originally the route also passed through Arizona but this portion of the highway has since been assigned a new number.
The route was given it’s number for rather mundane reasons: it was the 6th spur along its parent highway, Route 66.
Due to the number 666’s association with the Devil in Christianity the highway quickly became known as The Devil’s Highway. Route 666 has become famous as a cursed highway with locals believing some of the many accidents that occur there are caused by supernatural means.
Paranormal Activity on Highway 666
Not long after its conception the Devil’s Highway became renowned for being cursed and a home for many different types of paranormal activity.
The Hounds of Hell are said to run along this highway. They are described as large supernatural dogs that are able to run as fast as any vehicle.
The Hounds of Hell are said to purposefully cause accidents and attack people travelling along the road.
Another mysterious phenomenon often sighted on the Devil’s Highway is Satan’s Sedan. This is described as a dark colored vehicle that is driven by an evil entity.
It is said that Satan’s Sedan will chase vehicles and try to run them off the road, even ramming them before fleeing.
Some drivers on the highway report seeing a young girl wearing a white dress. Sometimes she will flag down drivers for a ride before disappearing once inside the vehicle. Other times she will run out in front of vehicles and disappear when hit by the car.
Others report seeing an aggressive truck that will try to harm other drivers, much like Satan’s Sedan. The Semi is said to barrel down the highway towards its victims before vanishing just before impact.
Others still have reported seeing Skin-walkers along Route 666. Locals recommend never travelling the highway alone so that there is no room for them to enter your car.
There are even a high number of UFO sightings as well as reports of strange lights that dart across the sky.
Possible Explanations for Paranormal Activity on Highway 666
It is possible that the fear that has been created simply by giving the highway a biblically significant number has drawn spiritual energy towards the highway causing all of the paranormal phenomena.
It is also possible that because people are expecting to see strange things while on the highway they are attributing mundane events to paranormal sources.
